Captain John Piplfox is a dramatic text by Dušan Radović which was marked my chilhood. Today as I rereaded it, I understaind: every time in the future will have its Captain. Such is the destiny of texts-works of genius. Such fine fate also befell this dramatic text. The glorious expedition to slay the monster from the Chinese Sea brings to contemporary life with some irony a fairytale like, archetipycal image – the battle against the dragon, whilst offering a solution in which laughter and courage are equalled, as well as common sense and imagination. In our attempt to understand life, to win life over, it helps us to learn to understand the real through the imaginary, the task through the wish. It teaches us to love victory as well as defeat and defeat as well as victory. It teaches us never to separate those two concepts in the mosaic of the sensitivities of our loves. It teaches us to laught smartly. To get smart. While observing life from a personal, a little weird, a little real, and a little dreamed, viewpoint.
