You and Me are We is an educational-artistic project made of a series of creative workshops intended for secondary school pupils of Serbian, Albanian and Roma ethnicity in the south of Serbia. Fifteen selected participants were provided with the opportunity to learn the basics about the theatre, participate in the making of a professional theatre production, learn and work with their peers of other ethnicities living in the area. The result is a theatre production written, conceived and directed, together with secondary school pupils from Bujanovac, Preševo and Vranje, by the dramaturgist Milena Bogavac actor Aleksandar Lazić and actress Tinja Došen. A number of lecturers and artists from Belgrade, Novi Sad, Valjevo and Sombor participated in its creation. The production was shown in Bujanovac, Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kikinda, Sremska Mitrovica, Zrenjanin and Tršić, and the experience of joint effort, learning, playing with one’s peers from different cultures, made the participants change their views on the differences, love, friendship and borders. They built their lives and growing-up into the production and the production, in turn, helped them to grow as better people.
