Exhibition Jovan Cirilov “My Contemporaries in Caricature”

Jovan Ciriliov’s exhibition “My Contemporaries in Caricature” will be opened in the Theatre Museum of Serbia, on 17th September 2009.

The sketches of the people which will be presented at the exhibition: Julian Beck, Borka Pavicevic, Bob Wilson, Predrag Perovic,Istvan Eörsi, Jirzi Dinzbir, Drinka Gojkovic, Rajko Djuric, Josip Broz Tito, Lazar Stojanovic, Hamdija Demirovic, Zuko Dzumhur, Radmilo Djurovic, Ljubisa Ristic, Velimir Lukic, Zoran Jovanovic, Edvard Radzinski, as well as the professors and the students at the Seminar in the American Studies in Salzburg in 1962, Jovan Cirilov, and many others.

Ksenija Radulovic, the director of Theatre Museum of Serbia: These are the notes from the forewords and afterwords of all the books written by Jovan Cirilov. Enumerating his activities, nobody has ever added that, among all other things, he also sketches caricatures of his contemporaries. They could not help but notice that since Cirilov, usually during the meetings, when he is bored or while he is preparing to speak makes the sketches of the people who surround him. Theatre Museum of Serbia believes that this side of Jovan Cirilov is worth being presented as well. (2009)
