ENPARTS (European Network of Performing Arts) is one of the ten major projects supported by Culture 2007-2013 programme which is aiming at establishing continuous cooperation among some of the most representative performing arts institutions in Europe.

Bitef theatre and six other internationally acclaimed European institutions and festivals have initiated and envisioned the experimental five-year project, which supports new creations in the area of performing arts and promotes the development of innovative expression by the means of cooperation and artistic productions. Supported by European Commission , ENPARTS advocates the idea that Europe, being a crossroads of various cultures, can establish the desired unity only through art and culture.

ENPARTS is supported by La Biennale di Venezia, one of the oldest and the most renowned interdisciplinary cultural institutions in the world. The rest of the partners include: Bitef theatre, represented by Nikita Milivojevic, the director of the project and Vesna Bogunovic, its art director; Dance Umbrella, the famed London festival of contemporary dance, which celebrated its thirtieth anniversary last year; Berliner Festspiele, hosted by the theatre founded by Erwin Piscator which has a fifty-year-long tradition in various areas, and its theatre section Spielzeit Europa; Musicadhoy from Madrid, one of the most active institutions dedicated to the development of Hispanic and European tendencies in music; Musik der Jahrhunderte from Stuttgart which has its regular activities but also promotes “Eclat” the festival of new music; and Dansens Hus or “The House of Dance” in the heart of Stockholm, an art institution of national significance but also a stage on which all the prestigious contemporary dance performances are held.

ENPARTS will function as a framework within which several experimental co productions of dance, theatre and music art will be carried out and subsequently shown in the European centers of the participants. The very network of exchange which was established among the festivals and the institutions will make all of this possible. Additionally, the network will be carried out via internet sites with a universal programme for all the participants as well as by the means of audiovisual works which will follow the performing productions authenticating thus the cooperation and its results.

Apart from making performances, the partners will meet during several big international gatherings. The first one was held on 29th November, 2008 under the title Babylonia Europe – the boundless language, which was part of the programme Mediterraneo, which dealt with topic of “con-fusion” between various discourses.

In the years to come, ENPARTS will aspire towards promoting pedagogical and research activities which support integration and intercultural dialogue, with the particular attention given to the young generations.
