How long will children continue to be denied the right to participate in good, quality, avant-garde theater? Is it sufficient for them to be presented with lukewarm entertainment?...members of the Swedish troup "Unga Klara", along with their art director Suzanne Osten, keep wondering.

As an answer to these questions there comes their boldest experiment which aims directly for the core of the dramatic experience of a new born baby: an interactive play about the creation of life that is meant for (attention!) 6-12 month old babies and their parents. "A new theatrical genre is born!“ claim "Unga Klara".

Children are the principle protagonists of this play, on and off the scene. The authors express their desire to welcome these youngsters into life, to compliment their creativity and freedom in full, and at the same time, they aim  to stimulate their parents into seeing and acknowledging them as cultured and creative beings.  Even if only in a provisional theatrical moment, children will be able to experience how sweet independence from their parents is.

Baby Drama is, in the spirit of the best tradition of  "Unga Klara", a research project and a political statement. The third point which defines the work of this independent theater from Stockholm is a desire to approach things from a child's perspective. Since its foundation in 1975, from performance to performance their profesional, author team has been dealing with the enigma of growing up and through a positive, overt approach touches upon occasionally difficult subjects such as divorce, alcoholism in the family, anorexia, suicide, emigration and such.  As an important step towards the root of things, their latest production, Baby Drama, is a true "visceral happening"!
